<title>Business Development Manager</title>

<description><![CDATA[ <p>Fitzgerald, Abbott &amp; Beardsley LLP&rsquo;s Business
Development Manager facilitates and manages the business development efforts of
the practice and industry groups, and of individual attorneys.&nbsp; The
candidate will work with all levels of the firm to implement&nbsp;the
firm's&nbsp;strategic vision&nbsp;related to&nbsp;business development.</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities for this position include but are not
limited to:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Research:</strong>&nbsp; Work
collaboratively with the librarian to gather competitive intelligence by
researching potential targets, industries, referral sources, and trade
associations for business development opportunities. &nbsp;Identify and contact trade publications and
other media to place articles and announcements.&nbsp; Maintain e-mail contact with organizations
hosting business development events.&nbsp;
Maintain a library of business development articles and information.</p>
<p><strong>Practice and Industry Groups:&nbsp; </strong>Provide leadership and marketing support
for business development at practice group and industry group meetings level.&nbsp; Develop topics for seminars and
articles.&nbsp; Recommend cross selling
opportunities between practice and industry groups, and other companies.</p>
<p><strong>Collaborate with individual attorneys to expand business
development efforts</strong> including developing, tracking and implementing
individual marketing plans, recommending targets and developing existing client
relationships. Research opportunities for attorneys to serve on boards and
provide support during the application process.</p>
<p><strong>Events:</strong> Supervise the smooth running of business
development events (including overseeing the location, logistics, food, invitations,
mailing lists, nametags, hand-outs and promotional items).</p>
<p><strong>RFP Production:</strong>&nbsp;
Assist attorneys preparing materials to respond to RFPs.&nbsp;&nbsp; Maintain inventory of materials and samples
of RFPs for future use.</p>
<p><strong>Oversee development of collateral and other marketing
materials:</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Update content of firm
brochure, prepare professional announcements, and coordinate mailings.&nbsp; Recommend new forms of collateral
materials.&nbsp; Collaborate with attorneys to
create and update practice and industry group marketing materials and update
resumes of FAB attorneys.&nbsp; Work with in-house and outside sources to
create announcements .</p>
<p><strong>Website:</strong>&nbsp; Oversee
ongoing updates to all aspects of firm's website keeping content current and
relevant (i.e. posting articles, legal alerts, and speaking engagements). Solicit
articles from attorneys to be posted on the site.&nbsp; Work with outside web designer to make site
accurate, user friendly and accessible.&nbsp; </p>
<p><strong>Media Relations:</strong>&nbsp;
Develop and maintain firm's media contacts to ensure firm's attorneys
continue to be sought out by media for expert commentary on legal issues. Prepare
press releases for new hires, announcements about successful cases,&nbsp; important new clients, lateral hires, etc.</p>
<p><strong>Newsletters and articles:</strong>&nbsp; Drive process of attorney publication of
articles, newsletters and informational letters to clients.</p>
<p><strong>Contact database:</strong>&nbsp;
Assist with maintenance of firm marketing lists.&nbsp; Maintain a library of business development
articles and information; maintain e-mail contact with organizations hosting
business development events, and maintain database of contacts and related
business development activities.</p>

<p><strong>Specific
Requirements:</strong></p>
<p>A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a legal or
professional services marketing department, and a related degree are
preferred.&nbsp; Must have strong MS Office
skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher).&nbsp;
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and an ability to
work with a variety of people in a collaborative environment is required.&nbsp; Excellent writing and organizational skills,
and the ability to handle multiple requests and deadlines is required.&nbsp; The manager must be able to work at events
that start before and after regular business hours. </p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of litigation experience involving environmental contamination issues, as well as substantial experience in regulatory agency enforcement and site closure matters.&nbsp; Experience in brownfields redevelopment, in drafting environmental risk allocation provisions of real estate and business transactional documents, and in advising clients in environmental due diligence and site investigation matters is also strongly desired.</p>
