Fitzgerald Abbott & Beardsley’s (FAB) client, SunPower Corporation, received approval today from the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors to construct the California Valley Solar Ranch. The 250 MW, utility-scale, solar photovoltaic project, located in eastern SLO County, received unanimous approval (5-0) from the Board.

FAB’s Land Use, Environment & Natural Resources group, led by partner, Barry Epstein, served as lead counsel for SunPower in securing the County permitting and in the related environmental review process under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

California Valley Solar Ranch is a more than $1 billion project, which will cover approximately 1,400 acres in solar arrays and produce enough electricity to power about 100,000 homes. The project also received a conditional commitment last week for a $1.2 billion federal Department of Energy loan guarantee.
