Mr. Caples is Of Counsel to the firm and a member of its Labor & Employment Practice Group. He is a trained mediator and focuses his practice on providing preventative advice and counseling for clients, defending wrongful termination, discrimination and other employment litigation, and representing employers in union bargaining and election campaigns. Mr. Caples represents employers before both state and federal courts in several states and before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), the California Labor Commissioner and other state and federal administrative agencies.
Mr. Caples is widely recognized as a trainer and public speaker in the areas of labor and employment law and has spoken before such groups as the Sacramento, San Mateo, and San Francisco County Employer Advisory Committees, the Northern California Human Resources Council and the Association for Image and Information Management. He has conducted numerous seminars regarding wrongful termination, employee privacy, workplace violence, wage and hour, discipline and termination as well as Equal Employment Opportunity, including sexual harassment and affirmative action. Mr. Caples has also authored several articles in the areas of labor and employment law.
Mr. Caples is a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve, with twenty-six years of service in stations including Iraq, Haiti, Thailand, Indonesia and Korea.
